Thirsty Thursday Wine Tastings

We are delighted to announce our new WineTubeMap experiences! Like no other wine tastings, they are designed for people who love drinking wine, would like to more but don’t fancy going back to school to do it! In the basement of the Bon Vivant’s Companion – deli/wine shop and next door to one of Edinburgh’s favourite watering holes we take you on a journey of food and wine discovery using the WineTubeMap as the basis for your trip.

The events are the perfect kick start to the weekend held after work on thirsty Thursday, we even throw in a voucher for a glass of wine or beer at the Bon Vivant afterwards.

You’ll get to try all sorts of wines in a way that helps put the taste and style into context and we’ll provide some interesting food matches for each wine. It’s totally informal, we introduce you to the map and theme and then set you on your way so you get to taste and chat in a completely relaxed environment.

We’ve created a new format for the next few tastings, each one is themed along a line except for the spice tasting which is themed by the food matches. You can attend each one individually or sign up for them all to get the WineTubeMap Knowledge!

26^th April – Introduction to the WineTubeMap

A whistlestop tour of the WineTubeMap, wine tasting and food matching covering red, white and rose. With bites to match.

3^rd May – Aromatic Line

An up and coming line with fresh and funky whites for the bank holiday. Some favourite grapes and new favourites on the winelist with some great bites to set them off.

10^th May – Red Central Gourmet Tasting

Some serious reds from classic regions like the Rhone and Bordeaux – whether you’ve never tried them or love these wines you’ll enjoy the tasting. Because these wines blossom with food we’re including gourmet food matchings to set them off beautifully.

17^th May – White Central

Classic whites from all around the world showing you just how diverse white wine can be from the palest of the pale to the richest of the rich.  We’ll be tasting wines from Portugal, South Africa, Australia, France, California and Austria to name but a few and the bites will be just as diverse.

24^th May – Revelation Line

Some new grapes and winemaking styles perfect for BBQ season. This tasting is going to be laid back and fun!

31^st May – Jubilee Line Gourmet Tasting

To celebrate the long weekend the Fizz line gets renamed.  A selection of sparklers from all over the world and fascinating foods to match. If you love bubbles you’ll love this, from pink fizz to Vintage Champagne, what’s not to like!

7^th June – Rediscovery line Gourmet Tasting

Classic and elegant wines with some well matched gourmet canapes – just sublime. Form Chianti to Barolo via Pinot Noir you’ll be feeling the love for these sophisticated tipples by the end of the evening.

14^th June – Spicy Food Tasting

A selection of spicy foods from all over the world with red, white, rose and sparkling wines. A revelation!
